Promise

A promise is when you say you will do something.

When people make a promise, they give their word.

It means they will do something in the future.

Sara tells her friend, “I promise to help you tomorrow.”

Her friend smiles and says, “Thank you. I need your help.”

The next day, Sara remembers her promise.

She goes to her friend’s house early in the morning.

She helps clean the kitchen and cook lunch.

Her friend is very happy.

Keeping a promise makes people trust you.

Friends, family, and coworkers all like people who keep their promises.

But sometimes, people break promises.

If Sara did not go to her friend’s house, her friend would feel sad.

Her friend might think, “I cannot trust Sara anymore.”

A small promise can be important.

A big promise can change someone’s life.
