The Algerian government announced today, Thursday, the immediate reinstatement of the visa system for all foreign nationals holding Moroccan passports, according to local media.

أعلنت الحكومة الجزائرية، اليوم الخميس، إعادة العمل الفوري بنظام التأشيرات بالنسبة لكافة الرعايا الأجانب حاملي جواز السفر المغربي، حسب وسائل إعلام محلية.

The same sources stated that "the Algerian government has decided to immediately reinstate the requirement for obtaining a visa to enter the national territory for all foreign citizens holding Moroccan passports."

وذكرت المصادر عينها أن "الحكومة الجزائرية قررت إعادة العمل الفوري بالإجراء الخاص بضرورة الحصول على تأشيرة الدخول إلى التراب الوطني على جميع المواطنين الأجانب الحاملين لجوازات سفر مغربية".

The announcement, attributed to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mentioned that "Algeria, which has always committed to values of solidarity and preserving the human and familial ties between the brotherly Algerian and Moroccan peoples, avoided, since it announced its decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Morocco in August 2021, affecting the freedom and fluidity of people’s movement."

ونسبت المصادر الإعلان إلى بلاغ لوزارة الخارجية الجزائرية، جاء فيه أن "الجزائر التي لطالما التزمت بقيم التضامن والحفاظ على الروابط الإنسانية والعائلية التي تجمع بين الشعبين الشقيقين الجزائري والمغربي، تفادت، منذ إعلانها قرار قطع العلاقات الدبلوماسية مع المملكة المغربية في أوت 2021، المساس بحرية وسيولة تنقل الأشخاص".

In repeating its usual accusations, the Algerian Foreign Ministry accused the Kingdom of Morocco, according to the statement, of “exploiting the absence of visa requirements between the two countries, engaging in various activities that threaten Algeria’s stability and national security, particularly through multiple networks of organized crime, drug and human trafficking, in addition to smuggling, illegal immigration, and acts of espionage, as well as deploying Israeli intelligence agents holding Moroccan passports to enter the national territory freely."

وفي تكرار لأسطوانتها المشروخة، اتهمت الخارجية الجزائرية المملكة المغربية، وفق البلاغ، بـ”استغلال غياب التأشيرة بين البلدين، حيث انخرطت في أفعال شتى تمس باستقرار الجزائر وبأمنها الوطني، خاصة شبكات متعددة للجريمة المنظمة والاتجار بالمخدرات والبشر، ناهيك عن التهريب والهجرة غير الشرعية وأعمال التجسس، فضلا على نشر عناصر استخباراتية صهيونية من حملة الجوازات المغربية للدخول بكل حرية للتراب الوطني".

The statement added that "these actions constitute a direct threat to the country’s security and necessitate strict control over entry and residence on the national territory at all border points," considering that "Morocco alone bears responsibility for the current deterioration of bilateral relations."

وأورد البلاغ أن "هذه التصرفات تشكل تهديدا مباشرا لأمن البلاد وتفرض رقابة صارمة للدخول والإقامة على التراب الوطني على مستوى جميع النقاط الحدودية"، معتبرا أن "المغرب يتحمل وحده مسؤولية المسار الحالي لتدهور العلاقات الثنائية".
